Description:

The Old West Stables exemplify the culture of Palu Duro State Park beautifully. Horses and horse back riding have been a part of Palo Duro Canyon's history since the days of the Apaches, Kiowas, Comanches, and Cheyennes. Though you shouldn't expect your ride to be as daring as some of theirs undoubtedly were, we expect that you'll want to make your own horse back riding history when you visit Palo Duro Canyon and the Old West Stables.

Our rental horses are tame and well kept and our horse back riding guides are not just experienced, they're real honest to goodness cowboys and cowgirls! You'll never find a more beautiful setting as you ride the canyon floor through the same hills and ravines as such famous individuals as Colonel Ranald MacKenzie of the U.S. Cavalry and Colonel Charles Goodnight, Palo Duro Canyon's first permanent white settler.
