Picnic in a Park With Your Valentines

It’s that month of the year when we get together to celebrate those special V-A-L-E-N-T-I-N-E-S in our lives—our children, significant others, parents, friends, siblings and other loved ones. What better way to connect with your family Valentines this month than to find a place nearby for a picnic on a beautiful day?!

Roses are red, violets are blue, visit to find a park near you! Here’s a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Austin: Cullen Country Park. This 24-acre greenbelt/trail system has picnic tables and benches scattered throughout the trail for public use.
  • Caprock: Ruddick Park. This park in Colorado City is set on the banks of Lone Wolf Creek. With walking trails, ball fields and fishing opportunities it’s a great place to enjoy the outdoors with the family.
  • Coastal Bend: Brookdale Park. This park is just a few blocks from the bay! Come on out with your friends and enjoy your favorite afternoon activity and have a picnic.
  • Houston: Buffalo Bayou Park. This 160-acre park is a great urban green space to visit. The Barbara Fish Daniel Nature Play Area and Picnic Pavilion is one of the park’s most popular destinations.
  • North Texas: Julian Feild Park - Serenity Gardens. This wooded park is located along a creek and is great for appreciating the benefits of native plants and having a family outing.
  • Pineywoods: Lakeside Park. This six-acre park in Nacogdoches includes a small pond where kids can learn how to fish, picnic tables and playground equipment.
  • Rio Grande Valley: Cascade Park. This McAllen park is perfect for picnics of all sizes. A variety of playground equipment and a sand volleyball court are available right next door to Cascade Pool.
  • San Antonio: Northampton Park. Enjoy your family and friends in the great outdoors with a picnic lunch in the fresh air and sunshine. The park has a playground and trails to explore.
